You are planning a treatment in Germany? And you would like to know more about the treatment options at the UKSH?

We are here to help, and are available for personal  interviews. There are a number of formal and organizational issues to be resolved before undertaking a treatment abroad. We will support you during this process step by step:

• Your Application
  Please include an up-to-date medical report when sending a treatment application to the International Department. This report should describe your medical needs as explicitly as possible.
• Our Proposal
  Based on your medical report our medical specialists for each department will provide an assessment and treatment recommendation. Based on this information an individual proposal to inform you of the manner  expected duration and costs of the treatment will be created for you.
• Appointment
  Should you decide on a treatment at the UKSH, please register with the International Department. You will promptly receive an appointment with the specialist responsible for your treatment.
• Costs
  We require a confirmation from your insurance provider or other sponsor before beginning a treatment. In the case that you will be paying for the treatment yourself, we ask that you provide an advance payment for the amount stated in our cost estimation.
• Visa
  Do you need a visa for the entry into Germany? The International Department will send you an invitation and a confirmed appointment with which you may apply for a visa at the German embassy or consulate in your home country.
• Arrival
  As soon as you arrive at Hamburg Airport, you will be picked up by the UK S-H designated driver  and brought to the Medical Center in Kiel or Lübeck. This service is of course also provided should you arrive via ferry or train
• Interpreter
  Interpreters are available at both our Kiel and Lübeck locations in order to facilitate communication with our doctors and nursing staff.
• Accompanying Person
  We will arrange for hotel or apartment accommodations for the person accompanying you during your stay. Would you like to go on an excursion in order to explore Kiel, Lübeck or Hamburg? We will gladly help you organize your trip.
• Billing
  Following the treatment, you or your health care provider will be provided with a detailed invoice cataloging the services rendered.
