The diagnosis of neuroimmunological diseases, especially in the investigation of antibodies against neuronal and glial antigens, places high demands on the methodological implementation, requires a critical interpretation of the results and benefits from the interdisciplinary consultation of clinically active colleagues.
Using automated high throughput methods, CSF and serum samples are analyzed by indirect immunofluorescence, immunoblotting and ELISA testing. In addition, specialized, non-commercially available (in-house) testing methods are used in our laboratory to detect rare autoantibodies or to decipher implausible constellations of findings.
