The healthcare-embedded biobank mainly uses and stores residual material from patient samples that are generated in everyday hospital operations. In this way, samples for research projects may be obtained without any additional effort in the daily hospital routine, while at the same time ensuring high sample quality and complete documentation of the processes.
In collaboration with HIGHmed, the extraction of research-relevant data from laboratory and hospital information systems is also organized for the samples stored in the biobank.
Access to the samples for research purposes is regulated by the "PopGen 2.0 Network" (P2N). Requests for use may be submitted at https://portal.popgen.de.
