The Institute of Clinical Chemistry is affiliated as a clinical-theoretical institute to the Medical Faculty of the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel and offers courses for students in the course Clinical Chemistry and Hematology. In accordance with the multidisciplinary character of the subject Clinical Chemistry, the individual courses deal with the different aspects of modern medical laboratory diagnostics.
In the lecture series, lecturers from the Institute of Clinical Chemistry and other UKSH institutions provide a practical insight into the use of various modern laboratory medical procedures in different clinical areas.
During the seminars, the main areas of protein diagnostics, therapeutic drug monitoring/drug and molecular genetics are explained. The practical courses include applied exercises on blood collection, CSF diagnostics, hematology, pre-analytics, transfusion medicine and POCT. Clinical cases may be used to apply the acquired knowledge to exciting and practical examples.
