The PSORIASIS-CENTER at the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Kiel, deals with one of the most common chronic inflammatory diseases of the skin: psoriasis.
What began small in 2006 has developed into one of the largest centers of its kind in Germany and Europe. The head of the department Prof. Ulrich Mrowietz and his team of dermatologists and research scientists investigate the causes of psoriasis and are involved in multiple clinical research studies to offer more extensive medical care to their patients.
Psoriasis is a complex disease which affects not only the skin but the whole body. People suffering from psoriasis are known to have an elevated risk of developing other diseases like hypertension, dyslipidaemia, diabetes or depression.
We want to understand the interrelationship between these conditions, to provide the best possible treatment for our patients.
For this reason, we have developed a psoriasis management concept that has already not only been incorporated into our everyday healthcare, but is also considered as trend-setting and has been included in the recently published global WHO report to the psoriasis.
