„There is no place for intolerance and exclusion in our society. With around 17,000 employees from 120 nations, UKSH is an open and tolerant organization. Everyone has a place here, regardless of gender or ethnicity."
Executive Board Member for Nursing, Patient Services, and Human Resources / CHRO

The UKSH is actively committed to diversity and inclusion. Since signing the Charter for Diversity in 2016, we have been promoting a working environment characterized by tolerance and mutual respect. Our goal is to create an environment that is free of prejudice and in which all employees are valued – regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, lifestyles, and values. Every year, we participate in the Diversity Day to showcase our commitment.
Our family-friendly and future-oriented human resources policy supports the compatibility of work, family, and health. We specifically promote colleagues from abroad through internships and courses for the recognition of foreign professional qualifications.
The UKSH is fully committed to the principles of good corporate governance. The Corporate Governance Code – Schleswig-Holstein is enshrined in our main statutes and promotes an equality-oriented corporate culture with equal development opportunities for women and men. It reinforces the appreciation of the diversity of our employees as a guiding principle of diversity management.
#we are committed
#we are diverse
The long-standing collaboration between Lübecker CSD e.V. and the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein is an example of how important social institutions can work together to promote diversity and acceptance. With actions such as raising the rainbow flag on campus, having its own presentation stand at the CSD street festival, and many other moments, UKSH impressively demonstrates its active commitment to diversity. We look forward to continuing on this path together in the future—for an open and colorful society.

The UKSH is also committed to diversity outside of everyday clinical practice by participating in Christopher Street Day and flying the rainbow flag. Our managers and employees live and protect the values of the Charter of Diversity every day, thereby contributing to an inclusive and respectful working environment. Intercultural training and anti-discrimination initiatives offered by the IQ Network Schleswig-Holstein help our employees develop intercultural skills and prevent discrimination.
We believe that the diverse perspectives and experiences of our employees strengthen us and contribute to making UKSH a place of openness and respect. Together, we create a working environment in which everyone feels comfortable and valued and can develop their full potential.
