The research group of Prof. Dr. Stephan Weidinger is looking for a highly motivated PhD student in the field of microbiome and biostatistics. Our research focus on the identification of etiological factors associated with dermatological and allergolocial disorders (e.g. atopic eczema and psoriasis). For this purpose, we generate and explore diverse sets of omics- (genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, metagenomics) next generation sequencing (NGS) data. This field offers exciting statistical research topics, including integrative data analysis. Our working group cooperates closely within the faculty with the Institute of Medical Informatics and Statistics (IMIS) and the Institute of Clinical Molecular Biology (IKMB). The position is initially for 3 years, with a salary grade according to TV-L (E 13 TV-L (65 %).
The primary focus of the candidate will be on ongoing and planned microbiome projects. These include population-based cohorts that aim to associate lifestyle and host genetics with skin and gut microbiome composition, as well as clinical patient-based studies investigating correlations between the microbiome, inflammatory skin diseases and therapeutic intervention.
