Specialized Advanced Training Course, 25th - 28th September 2017

After the summer break our second specialized advanced training course of the year took place from 25th - 28th September 2017. The course focused on uterus myomatosus, hysterectomy, myomectomy and endometriosis.

The first day began with an intensive training in clinical anatomy in the Institute of Anatomy. This training session, conducted by Prof. Thilo Wedel, included an anatomical refresher course on the female pelvis, featuring a demonstration of anatomical specimens. During the evening dinner the participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas and experience.

On the following days, the morning sessions alternated between attendance at live surgery and discussion of the operations and short lectures. In the afternoon sessions emphasis was placed on personalized training at the laparoscopy and hysteroscopy trainers. The participants had abundant opportunity to practise and implement the new insights obtained in the live surgery sessions on models and animal organs.

A highlight of the course was undoubtedly the sundown sailing trip on the Kiel Bay, made possible by Professor Liselotte Mettler at the helm of her yacht "Okeanos".
