With a break for only one week between courses, the next training course in the Kiel School took place from 9th - 12th October 2017. This course was again an English-speaking advanced training course, focusing on uterus myomatosus, hysterectomy, myomectomy and endometriosis.
As in all of our advanced courses the first day began with an intensive training in clinical anatomy in the Institute of Anatomy. This training session, conducted by Prof. Thilo Wedel, included an anatomical refresher course on the female pelvis, featuring a demonstration of anatomical specimes. During the evening dinner the participants had the opportunity to network and exchange ideas.
On the following days, the morning sessions alternated between attendance at live surgery and discussion of the operations and short lectures. In the afternoon sessions emphasis was placed on personalized training at the laparoscopy and hysteroscopy trainers. The participants had abundant opportunity to practise and implement the new insights obtained in the live surgery sessions on models and animal organs.
Even though the weather was quite changeable, the participants eagerly accepted Professor Mettler´s offer of a sundown sailing trip on her yacht "Okeanos" across the Kiel Bay.
