After the successful completion of two basic courses, the first of three Specialized Advanced Training Courses was held from 14th - 17th May. The participants came from near and far and included a five-man delegation from Sri Lanka.
The first day featured an introductory half-day intensive course in clinical anatomy in conjunction with the Institute of Anatomy. Prof. Thilo Wedel gave a demonstration of anatomical specimens of the pelvic floor and a lecture on applied laparoscopic surgical anatomy for advanced gynaecological surgery.
On the following three days the participants could observe the operations in the operating room during the morning sessions and in the afternoon sessions the focus was placed on personalized training at the hystero- and pelvitrainers. The trainees had ample opportunity to practise suturing techniques and coordination skills on models and animal organs. A series of lectures rounded off the training programme.
