Our course year continued with an English-speaking training course from 5th - 7th March. During an unusually cold spell for Kiel we welcomed 12 colleagues from near and far. The main surgical focus was on the fundaments of laparoscopy and operative hysteroscopy but on the third day all participants took advantage of the opportunity to witness a robotic procedure using the da Vinci Surgical System.
In the morning sessions the participants observed a wide range of endoscopic operations, supplemented by lectures, demonstrations and discussions. Throughout the afternoon sessions the trainees had ample opportunity to improve their laparoscopic and hysteroscopic skills on models and animal organs, according to their individual requirements. The first-time loan of a virtual-reality hysteroscopy simulator by our principal Sponsor Karl Storz SE & Co. KG met with an enthusiastic response from our guest colleagues.
