Contents of Teaching

The module „Biostatistics“ introduces the field of applied biostatistics.
Topics of the lecture include:

  • descriptive and inferential statistics

  • comparison of central tendencies

  • measuresand tests of association and correlation

  • regression analysis (linear and logistic)

The contents of the exercise are:

  • an introduction into statistical programming and

  • the application of statistical methods from the lecture.

Qualification-goals/Competencies

The overall goal of the module is to give the students the skill:

  • to understand and interpret results from common statistical analyses,

  • to choose adequate statistical methods for a given research problem and

  • to conduct basic statistical analyses using pen-and-pencil and R.
