To further strengthen the cooperation between the University Cancer Centers Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg, we are organizing NORD (= Northern Oncology Research and Development) workshops on selected key topics, to which researchers from UKSH and UKE are welcome in order to expand or start collaborations and plan joint funding proposals.
Tumor models that best reflect the tumor biology of patients (= patient avatars) have become an integral part of cancer research, as they are essential for advancing our understanding of tumor diseases and for developing and testing novel therapeutic concepts. Therefore, this workshop aims to present the current research using patient avatars from the NORD Patient Avatar 3D Network. Furthermore, we will have an inspiring mix of insights into organoids and their use in research and drug testing of one of the leading groups, and presentations on the latest developments for standardization and faster processing from industry partners.
In this workshop we will have a particular focus on enabling technologies, which foster our throughput and standardization on the way to clinical application of our model systems. If you are already working with advanced technologies / automation (i.e. liquid handling, automated drug printing, high content imaging etc.), please register for our event and share your knowledge.
Please register using the following link:
https://NORD-Workshop_Patient-Avatars.eventbrite.com
Registration Deadline: October, 1st, 2025
For an active participation with a short oral presentation or a poster please send a short abstract (250 words max.) including applied technologies and tumor model to science.uccsh@uksh.de until Submission Deadline: August 8th, 2025
The workshop will be divided into the following three parts:
Complexity versus simplicity of patient avatars (Keynote lecture: Prof. Maximilian Reichert from the Technical University of Munich)
Patient Avatars meets P.I.L.O.T: Standardization & automatization
Current research from the NORD Patient Avatar 3D Network
As the number of available seats is limited, we will notify you in the second half of August if your registration was successful. (We do not have a waiting list.). Participants will be informed whether their contribution has been selected as poster or oral presentation.
Novel members and industry partners are welcome to join!
We look forward to fostering synergies and accelerating your work & personalized precision medicine using Patient Avatar Models in the North.
Kind regards,
