Dear colleagues,
we are pleased to invite you to the first NORD (Northern Oncology Research & Development) Workshop 2026 on “Dissemination & Metastasis”, jointly organized by the University Cancer Center Schleswig-Holstein (UCCSH) and the University Cancer Center Hamburg (UCC Hamburg).
This year introduces a new element to the NORD format:
CONNECT Speed Grants
€20,000 to support an emerging collaborative project
for a period of 12 months.
The workshop will follow a highly interactive format focused on developing new collaborations:
We will start with a keynote lecture by an external speaker (tbd), followed by short “speed presentations”, where participants introduce themselves and their project ideas. Based on these inputs, participants will form small teams (no prior team member needs to be defined) to further develop joint project concepts during the workshop, which will be presented at the end of the day (so, bring your laptop).
Teams generated during the workshop will have four weeks after the workshop to submit a one-page proposal (including a financial plan; provide a one-page CV of each applicant plus references separately) for the CONNECT Speed Grant. Final project pitches will be evaluated by the cross-center Taskforce Research, with funding decision for one project made shortly thereafter.
Registration implies active participation:
All participants are required to submit a one-page project profile (project idea, application focus, and expertise, see attached template). These profiles will be shared in advance to enable targeted exchange and preparation.
Key facts:
Registration & Project Profile Submission (mandatory for participation):
Deadline May 25th, 2026
Send your profile sheet to science.uccsh@uksh.deNo team-registrations!
Pre-circulation of all project profiles: June 10th, 2026
The workshop aims to:
Foster new collaborations across sites and disciplines
Lower barriers for scientific exchange
Encourage interaction beyond hierarchical structures
Initiate competitive joint projects supported by CONNECT Speed Grants
Who can attend:
Researchers and clinician scientists (M.Sc. level and above, professors with structure-forming professorships are excluded).
Date & location:
June 17th, 2026 (1:00 – 6:15 pm) in Kiel (Quincke Research Center (QFZ), 1st floor, rooms 10.1 + 10.2, Rosalind-Franklin-Straße 9, 24105 Kiel).
If you are interested in shaping new collaborative ideas and potentially securing seed funding, we encourage you to participate and contribute your project concept.
We look forward to your active involvement and to advancing oncology research collaborations in Northern Germany within our joint research program “Dissemination & Metastasis”.
Kind regards,
Your D&M-WS-Orga-Team
