I arrived in Kiel in October 2013 thanks to the Erasmus scholarship won in my University of Rome “Tor Vergata” and I immediately had great feelings about the Christian-Albrechts-Universität of Kiel and the Campus Kiel of the Universitätsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH). I had the chance to live in a truly international environment while conducting my studies in a high quality professional framework where I was able to draw on the prompt guidance, encouragement and support of both the Hospital’s and the University’s staff throughout the entire period of practice and study.
It was very much a hands-on experience since I had the opportunity to get heavily involved, on a daily basis, in a wide range of tasks in several departments across the Uniklinikum. These activities enabled me to deepen my understanding and practical skills in my field and, at the same time, allowed me to be confronted with challenging tasks which definitely informed my personal growth.
The credit for such an extraordinary experience goes to all the Professors, the Doctors and the colleagues whom I had the pleasure and luck to work with. I would thereby recommend the Campus Kiel of the Universitätsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein to anyone who is interested in doing a medical practice and a study experience abroad as the UKSH is very friendly to international students who are confronted here with a wealth of opportunities for their professional development against the backdrop of such an amazing working scenery.
