Our research group focuses on mechanisms of neural sensorimotor processes contributing to the control of postural balance, gait, gaze, visual exploration, and spatial orientation in health and disease (e.g., vestibular and cerebellar disease, neglect, psychiatric disorders, including functional disorders).

We use electrophysiological recording systems (video-oculography; posturography) to obtain motor and perceptual parameters following sensory (visual, vestibular, nociceptive) stimulation and relate them to functional and structural brain imaging techniques. The most precise technique to study sensorimotor processes are eye movements recordings systems which we abundantly use as they allow model predictions which can easily be tested.

Our goal is to identify brain mechanism underlying normal and abnormal sensorimotor and sensori-perceptual transmission (postural misperception, e.g., in functional neurological disorders), which can ultimatively be used for therapy. Our interdisciplinary research group comprises neurologists, neuroscientists, and psychologists.
